At what point is an IP owner “cashing in” on their product? Has Microsoft given us enough versions of Halo to satisfy us, or have they shilled out so many titles that it has lost its luster. Tony Hawk, Need for Speed, Madden, Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, and now Bioshock have seen new retail releases every year for at least the last 4 years. When do we say enough is enough.
2K’s plan is to release 5 more versions of Bioshock because they believe it has the potential to be like Star Wars. Yet they say they will not “cash in” on the franchise. How do you make 5 more games based on the same IP and not consider it cashing in? I thought the whole point of Bioshock was that is was a standalone story. A one off that had a beginning, middle, and an end. Of course you can not have a top seller stay a standalone title for long, as the company has to put out their new whore to shake it for us consumers to pay up.
Sorry for the rant, I’ll climb back into my hole now.

I get tired of the constant sequels and “cash-in” games that these companies keep . Just one original IP at a time please.
