Some stories have come out from Microsoft saying they are going to wait a little bit longer before the release of their next console. However I am questioning if the 360 is ready to be replaced? High definition has not completely taken over, and that is one of the main selling points for the 360 and Sony’s PS3. Most of the people I know do not own a HDTV, or have the money to purchase one in the next year or so. That coupled with the fact that no one has started asking for a new next generation console. At this time in 2004, we had seen the writing on the wall that Microsoft would not be maintaining the Xbox for much longer, and Nintendo was readying their next console as was Sony. The graphics and the gameplay were becoming dated.
I am still very please with the output of the newest titles being released now. Gameplay has not been left stagnant either. Games are still pushing the boundaries of what we play. I say we tell the manufactures to hold off, there is no need to upgrade to a new system when the ones we have are still pumping out great hits on a constant basis.
